Meet Tim Etherington-Judge, Bulleit’s Global Whiskey Guy and mixologist exrtraordinaire

If there is one thing you need to know about Tim Etherington-Judge, acclaimed mixologist and Global Whiskey Guy for the Bulleit Distilling Co. it’s that he considers bartending to be more than just a job, “but a lifestyle”.

Rated by Ardent Spirits, the Number One global cocktail authority, as one of the world’s best bartenders, Tim breathes this philosophy into everything he does while globe-trotting and blazing a trail for the fine art of bartending.

Striking up a love affair with the cocktail in 2005 when he found himself managing a beach resort in his hometown of Cornwall, United Kingdom, Tim created his first summer cocktail list while digging into the rich history and creative artistry surrounding mixology.

Since then, Tim has gained international expertise, prestige and in-depth knowledge of the spirits industry. Working to raise the standard of premium beverage offerings in some of the world’s foremost establishments, Tim’s credits include the Taj Mahal Hotel in India and the Suite Bar in New Zealand (which garnered honours for Best Bar, Best Drinks Selection, Best Bar Team and Best Operator under his management).

In January 2011, he received the ultimate stamp of approval when appointed Diageo Reserve Brand Ambassador for India, a coveted position that saw him orchestrating the brand’s top-class bartending competition, Diageo Reserve World Class Bartender of the Year, for the first time in that country.

While in India, Tim then launched the Diageo Bar Academy, the first programme of its kind anywhere in the world, providing bartenders with a professional qualification accredited by the W.S.E.T (Wine & Spirits Education Trust) as well as being the host Brand Ambassador for the 2011 World Class Global Finals, held at the Imperial Hotel, New Delhi.

Occupying this prestigious position until January 2013, Tim was then made Diageo Reserve Brand Ambassador for Africa where, in a somewhat uncharted territory for mixology, he is responsible for building and executing a capability strategy across African markets in addition to designing and implementing a pan-African World Class bartender programme.

Simultaneously, Tim has also developed unique bartender and consumer training programmes (many of these for Diageo Reserve Brands), has created several cocktail menus & recipe books and conducts exclusive bartending training sessions for aspiring mixologists. His cocktail recipes have been published in numerous international books such as The Bartenders Annual Manual and La Guida.

Today, Tim is an acknowledged arbiter of taste and culinary excellence with a global reputation that extends from the UK to New Zealand and India to Africa. He is steadily building a standing as an expert on American Whiskey, the Mint Julep and how to survive as a vegan in Kentucky.

In the mean time, Tim shares his adventures, including updates on his cycling adventures around the world, his love of coffee, cars and denim, via various social media platforms including his Twitter handle, @gingerbitters and his candid, eloquent blog, adashofgingerbitters.com.
